Well, of course, we've had some difficult results, particularly in London, but actually we've had some very good results elsewhere. Whether you look in places like Nuneaton, or Hartlepool or Thurrock, we've made good gains and made good progress there. This, of course, is against the difficult backdrop, midterm and I think when you take all of that into account, it's clear Labour just does not have the momentum to form the next government.
Asked by Jenny Kleeman and Kait Borsay on Breakfast, whether he believed Boris Johnson was the right person to lead the Conservative Party into the next general election, he said he did back the current Prime Minister.
What I think is at a time like this with the challenges that we face, we don't want the uncertainty or the instability of a leadership election with no certainty as the outcome protracted over several months, what we need is boldness and vision, and I think the Prime Minister has demonstrated that in the past, and will do so again.
