Russian forces are trying to encircle Ukrainian troops who are trying to defend two strategically important cities - Severodonetsk and Lysychansk. Russian officials have suggested the invasion will not end soon .. with one saying there is no deadline.
Meanwhile Russian and Chinese bombers flew together in a joint military exercise over the Sea of Japan as the leaders of Japan, India, Australia and the United States met in Tokyo to denounce international aggression.
