3:12Now PlayingDrone video released on Saturday (February 25) purportedly showed a group of Russian tanks and armoured vehicles driving on a road next to the town of Vuhledar in Ukraine’s east.
Video published by the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade on Facebook showed some of the tanks being blown out and thick clouds of smoke rising over. It was not immediately clear what caused explosions on the road and in the field next to the road.
Reuters was able to verify the location of the aerial footage by river and fields which matched satellite photography. Reuters was not able to independently verify the date it was filmed.
Vuhledar is a town about 150 km (90 miles) southwest of Bakhmut in the eastern Donbas region.
Moscow's forces have made progress trying to encircle Bakhmut, but have failed to break through Ukrainian lines to the north near Kremmina and to the south at Vuhledar, where they have taken heavy losses assaulting across open ground.
