John Pienaar sat down with the Head of Mid Corporate Banking at Barclays Corporate Banking, Andrea Delay to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing UK businesses.
Andrea and John discuss the findings of The Barclays Business Prosperity Survey, which explores the challenges and trends shaping UK businesses.
Delay reported that two thirds of senior decision makers are confident in the UK economy, while nine in ten are confident in their own businesses. Delay highlighted key areas with the greatest opportunity to focus investment: digital transformation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, renewable energy, international expansion, and employee development.
She noted that almost half of surveyed businesses said productivity is now a higher priority than last year, with technology and workforce skills seen as central to achieving this.
Delay also outlined how Barclays supports businesses through financing, trade services, market insights, and the £22 billion Business Prosperity Fund designed to lend and support businesses unlock growth and pursue sustainability.
