Welcome to America Stands 2020 Election Coverage in a spirit of faith! In today's episode, the America Stands team addresses current hot topics, as well as Joe Biden's potential pick for Vice President as we approach the 2020 Presidential Election.
This year, 2020, is an important election year in which we’ll elect the next president of the United States. In this episode of America Stands, hosts Gene Bailey, Greg Stephens and Tim Fox discuss the current state of affairs as we head into the campaigning season.
Correspondent Mike Grafalo shares news about the 2020 Republican National Convention (RNC) and Democratic National Convention (DNC). The RNC will take place in Charlotte, N.C., as opposed to Jacksonville, Fla., due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is scheduled for August 24, will have much fewer attendees, and will last only four hours. The DNC is still scheduled for August 17-20 in Milwaukee, Wis., and will be mostly virtual.
During this hour broadcast, the hosts discuss Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s potential running mate. They look at the four front runners for the vice-presidential nomination: Kamala Harris, Susan Rice, Karen Bass and Stacey Abrams. Pastor Stephens makes his prediction of who the ultimate nominee will be for the 2020 election.
Also in this episode, Fox interviews Autry J. Pruitt, founder of New Journey political action committee (PAC), about the organization’s mission to encourage all Americans, especially Black Americans to vote their beliefs.
Then Pastor Bailey and Pastor Stephens of Eagle Mountain International Church (EMIC) speak with Dr. Del and Joy Williams. Dr. Williams, a psychiatrist, explains the mental health side effects of living too long in isolation, as with 2020’s COVID-19 quarantine. In his medical practice, he is seeing greater rates of depression, suicidal tendencies and drug/alcohol abuse. The foursome also discusses current events like the Black Lives Matter movement and the riots that have plagued the country.
America Stands continues to look at current issues affecting America through a spiritual lens. And as always, it promises election coverage in the spirit of faith.
