Ukraine is facing an increasingly bleak road ahead after two-and-a-half years of war with Russia. Today, Russia controls about 18% of Ukrainian territory as Kyiv’s troops are outnumbered and outgunned with little prospect of significant relief. To help shore up its manpower, Moscow is looking to North Korea for aid as the Pentagon recently said Pyongyang sent about 10,000 troops to Russia.

WSJ spoke with Retired Brigadier Gen. Mark Kimmit about Ukraine’s recent battlefield challenges and what might be next for the conflict.
