YouTube Description
as posted by the channelI'm reposting this conversation, which I previously entitled "America's Forgotten Left," because I found a couple of glitches. I wasn't happy with the title or visual I gave it, either.
In it, Prof. Wolff and I discuss what might be called the “secret 'Red' history” of American and Western history—the history of a left that defended the oppressed and for the interests of all working people. These movements produced some of the most humane and democratic advances in modern life.
We discuss the American and European past, from Vienna’s social housing and free universities to Social Security, Medicare, civil rights, and strike leaders, with some personal reflections and recollections thrown in.
