11:04Now PlayingOn Thursday, Vice President Kamala Harris gave remarks on the American Rescue Plan signed into law by the Biden Administration. Harris announced the largest investment in childcare in the history of the nation. Citing the loss of about 164,000 child care centers across the country due to the pandemic, Harris said this has left many women without jobs and many families without affordable child care options. As part of the American Rescue Plan, $39 billion will go to states, tribes and territories to help child care centers and family childcare providers reopen or stay open. The funds are designated to help these centers with rent or mortgage payments, utilities, insurance, PPE, and ventilation upgrades to comply with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.
