Fulton County can now explore legal challenges to Georgia's new controversial voting law, SB 202. This is an important step in the fight for voters' rights in the state.
This is thanks to a resolution called "Stop Voter Suppression." Khadijah Abdur-Rahman, the Democratic Commissioner who sponsored it, joined "Start Your Day" with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to talk about the initiative. SB 202 includes photo ID requirements for absentee ballots, a shorter timeframe to request an absentee ballot and it limits the number of drop boxes available.
"Fulton County is the largest county in the state of Georgia," she said. "If you disenfranchise Fulton County, that is major voter suppression."
