“Criminal justice or policing has always been a part of the systematic efforts to disenfranchise folks,” Meade says.
Meade’s work in Florida helped restore the rights for Floridians with felony convictions, excluding murderers and sex offenders.
Despite Floridians voting to restore the rights of the formerly incarcerated, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has made it more difficult for felons in the state to vote.
