7:43Now PlayingThe Atlanta police officer who shot Rayshard Brooks in 2020 has been reinstated after initially losing his job. Garett Rolfe was fired a day after he shot and killed Brooks in a Wendy's parking lot. Following the shooting, protests erupted and the city's police chief stepped down. BNC Legal Expert Candace Kelley joined "Start Your Day" with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to discuss the case. Kelley said this case is all about due process and Rolfe's attorneys are saying there was no proper investigation or hearing. The Civil Service Board did not make any determinations about whether or not the officer committed a crime. Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said terminating Rolfe was the right thing to do. "This was a city on fire, so the mayor had to make a decision," Kelley said.
