“I’ve been blessed to be able to do what I love and perform virtually and I think give people hope through music,” H.E.R. says.
The singer/songwriter says that she didn’t expect her song "I Can't Breathe" to win Song of the Year at the 2021 Grammys. She was just glad to have been at the Oscars and was equally surprised to win Best Original Song "Fight for You," from the film "Judas and the Black Messiah."
“I won and that moment was insane too,” she tells Wright. I did not prepare a speech. I was unprepared. I really just went up there and spoke from the heart.”
At just 23 years old, H.E.R. is already halfway to EGOT status.
