The dangers of sickle cell disease include various conditions, including strokes. Two sisters have experienced it, but what they experience in the healthcare system affected them even more. Kyra Crawford, her mother Dana, and New York Times reporter Gina Kolata join "Start Your Day" with Sharon Reed and Mike Hill to tell their story. Dana says the experience was a journey and hard, both physically and emotionally. Kyra says she lives in pain every day, but the disease has also taken a toll on her mental health.
