3:02Now PlayingIn the Africa diaspora, there are tensions in the easternmost peninsula of the continent, otherwise known as the Horn of Africa, as Ethiopia’s Somali region officials say that militia from the Afar region attacked a local town called Gedamaytu.
Hundreds of people were massacred over the weekend in Gedamaytu, having been caught in a longstanding boundary dispute.
Also, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact the continent, as there’s an increase in cases due to the Delta variant and limits on vaccination accessibility and resources. Namibia and Uganda have gone under lockdown to prevent the spread, but South Africa lifted some of their restrictions after its third COVID wave.
