America wants answers as to why there wasn’t a contingency plan for getting soldiers out of Afghanistan.
The President is on summer vacation right now at Camp David, according to Yimam, but he is regularly in briefings and on video conference calls to monitor the situation in order to make decisions like adding 1,000 additional troops.
This will bring the total to 6,000 troops who are all focused on the evacuation of personnel and allies who have supported the mission. Biden has face scrutiny for the handling of this evacuation and people are still waiting to see what his remarks are because he has made no formal address of this crisis. Biden will leave Camp David on Wednesday and return to the White House to deliver his remarks.
