9:48Now PlayingOver the weekend, there was more devastation in Haiti.
They were hit by an earthquake measured at a magnitude of 7.2, the strongest earthquake Haiti has experienced since 1842 when the country suffered an earthquake with a magnitude of 8.1.
Unfortunately, it has led to at least 1,400 deaths and 6,000 injured, while destroying close to 14,000 homes and damaging an additional 13,000 homes. To make matters worse, tropical depression Grace will reach Haiti with winds close to 35 miles per hour.
As a result, Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry declared a state of emergency for one month.
Susan Hough, seismologist for the United States Geological Survey, and Garry Pierre-Pierre, founder and publisher for the Haitian Times, joins Charles Blow on “Prime” to discuss the earthquake and the relief efforts needed to rebuild Haiti.
