6:07Now PlayingMorgan Harper has announced that she’ll challenge 10-term Congressman and former presidential candidate Tim Ryan for the Ohio Senate seat, that will be vacated by Republican Senator Rob Portman when he retires at the end of his term in 2022.
According to the New York Times, Harper, who is a Stanford-educated attorney and served during the Obama administration at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, says she will "run a campaign aimed at turning out Black voters, women and young people with a populist message of getting ‘the economy on the side of working people.’”
She joins Laverne McGee on “Prime” to talk about her candidacy.
