11:54Now PlayingHouse Democrats held a press conference where they announced the passing of the John Lewis voting bill taking a step closer to protecting the rights of all voters in federal elections.
The bill passed with zero support from House Republicans, who have called the bill a gross overreach of the federal government and elections should remain in states’ control. The next step in the process will be getting it through the Senate which will inevitably fail, due to Democrats not having the appropriate votes as well as the constant threat of the filibuster.
