The police officers and paramedics involved in Elijah McClain's death were charged with manslaughter and negligent homicide charges this week.
Sheneen McClain says she was surprised by the news of the indictments.
"The way he handled himself when the police officers were surrounding him, at some point in time, I know my son knew that he wasn't going to make it out of there alive," McClain says. "I was just so proud of him with how he handled himself. He carried himself as such a distinguished young man."
