Coming up, director, actor, writer and composer Melvin Van Peebles has died at the age of 89. Nicknamed the "godfather of modern Black cinema," Van Peebles' cult classics "Watermelon Man" and "Sweet Sweetback's Baadassss Song" are credited with sparking the Blaxploitation genre of the 1970s.
Closing arguments have begun in R. Kelly's federal trial for sex trafficking and racketeering in New York. Eleven victims testified against the R&B singer.
