R&B singer R. Kelly has been found guilty in his federal sex trafficking trial.

He was found guilty on all nine counts, including racketeering. Kelly was also convicted of criminal counts accusing him of violating the Mann Act, which makes it illegal to take anyone across state lines “for any immoral purpose.”

Dr. Brittney Cooper, associate professor of women’s and gender studies at Rutgers University, joins Shannon LaNier on “Black News Tonight” to discuss the social context of the verdict.
