Former President Trump tried shutting down the government to build the wall on the southern border, and it was government employees that suffered. More than 300,000 workers were furloughed, and the majority of those who lost their paychecks were Black and Brown.
When the government shuts down, our health and safety are impacted. Departments of human services, TSA, FAA, prisons and virtually every federal agency or entity took a hit two years ago. Additionally, so many people who work for the U.S. government are still living paycheck to paycheck.
“They need to stop playing chicken with the lives of federal workers,” shares host Aisha Mills.
