9:44Now PlayingGeneral Colin Powell passed away earlier this morning at the age of 84.
After a distinguished 35-year career, he retired from the army in 1993 as a four-star general. Powell was the first Black chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton, and the first Black Secretary of State under President George W. Bush.
In 2003, Powell claimed Saddam Hussein was developing weapons of mass destruction, which he later publicly regretted as they were based on false intelligence.
