6:38Now PlayingThe Department of Justice is taking a stance against redlining, the practice of denying services to residents and communities based on race.
Attorney General Merrick Garland addresses lending discrimination and redlining in a press conference. "Redlining is a process by which lenders deny services to individuals in a neighborhood because of the race or national origin of the people who live in those communities," Garland says. He said it was designed to purposely deny minority communities access to resources. The DOJ's civil rights division is also working on several related investigations and settlements.
