9:39Now PlayingAfter months of closed-door negotiations and public calls of outrage, one racist NFL policy will finally come to an end.
“Race-norming” assumed Black players have lower cognitive skills than white players. Therefore, traumatic brain injuries didn’t cause Black players to lose as much as white players. That was the policy making it harder for Black players to qualify for payouts in the $1 billion settlement of concussion claims.
The NFL said, “No race norms or race demographic estimates — whether Black or white — shall be used in the settlement program going forward.”
Former NFL running back Ken Jenkins joins Nayyera Haq on “Prime” to discuss the policy.
All this and more on “Prime.”
