1:33Now PlayingThe 2 million people detained at the United States-Mexico border this year has set a record for the number of migrants arrested. BNC correspondent Derrick Lewis said between Oct. 2020 to Sept. 2021, 1.7 million people have been detained. In comparison, last fiscal year, the U.S. Border Patrol detained less than 500,000 people. When President Joe Biden took office, many restrictions and projects in place to discourage illegal border crossing were reversed, such as building the border wall, ending the remaining Mexico policy and announcing a 100-day pause in deportation. In September 2021, 200,000 migrants we detained.
