10:47Now PlayingMichael K. Powell, son of the first Black U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, makes a heartwarming tribute to his father during his funeral service. “The example of Colin Powell does not call on us to emulate his resume, which is too formidable for mere mortals,” Michael says. “It is to emulate his character and his example as a human being.” Former colleagues, friends and family gathered Friday at Washington National Cathedral to honor Powell and remember the scope of his trailblazing life—from an immigrant family with humble beginnings in the Bronx to breaking racial barriers in the military and within politics. Powell died of COVID-19 complications amid a cancer battle at the age of 84.
