Maddela is digging deeper into the health disparities, as well as the long-rooted vaccine hesitancy within the Black community. This comes as children ages 5-11 are gearing up to receive their Pfizer vaccine shots. Black and Hispanic Americans are almost three times more likely to be hospitalized and two times more likely to die of COVID-19 than white Americans. America has a history of medically abusing Black people, such as with the Tuskegee Syphilis Study, adding to the already existing disparities.
