Najahe Sherman has the story on the push to get more people of color in the cockpit. Carole Hopson is a 737 pilot for United Airlines and it's a job she didn't start until her 40s. She says racism was so bad in 1921 that even though Bessie Coleman had two wealthy Black men financing her education, no flight school in the United States would accept a Black woman as a student. Although things improved 100 years later, the improvements didn't include many people of color becoming pilots.
