9:29Now PlayingIn July 2021, the University of Temple hired its first Black president, Dr. Jason Wingard.
“Any trepidation in this role? Absolutely not,” Wingard said. “But I do feel a responsibility. It’s an honor and a privilege to be Temple’s first Black president. I certainly appreciate the Board of Trustees had the confidence in me to lead this distinguished university and I want to make sure I represent the city of Philadelphia, Temple University and a nation of leaders, particularly those who are African American to show when given the opportunity, we too, can be excellent and distinguished in our role.”
Dr. Wingard’s academic career includes teaching and senior leadership posts at Stanford University, the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia University. He also served as chief learning officer of Goldman Sachs and as founder and chairman of The Education Board, Inc., a management consultancy specializing in executive coaching and corporate advisory services.
