While evidence suggests that Arbery’s killers used a racial slur during the altercation, the prosecution has not used race as a motive. Many believe that the prosecution has employed this strategy to pander to the 11 white jurors deciding the case.
While the defense has attempted not to harp on race in the trial, race has become a point of contention because of their opposition to Black preachers and civil rights leaders being in the courtroom.
