1:32Now PlayingOn this New Year’s Eve, BNC is taking a look at all the new laws taking effect in the new year, including policing, abortions and new taxes.
From minimum wage increases, animal protection, police accountability and both cutting and increasing taxes, a series of new laws are taking effect on the first Saturday of 2022.
New Hampshire will have new abortion restrictions; police reform is set to take place in Illinois and North Carolina will address some of the most controversial issues directly affecting Black and Brown communities. The Connecticut Parentage Act allows unmarried, same-sex or non-biological parents to establish parenting rights, and California will become the first state to require a $15 an hour minimum wage for businesses with more than 25 employees.
BNC’s Stephanie Bertini has the latest.
