Last January, Sutherland was repeatedly stunned and kneeled on by jail deputies until he stopped breathing.
According to Ninth Circuit Solicitor Scarlett Wilson, despite the poor training techniques, the guards could not be charged because there was no proof they intended to kill Sutherland.
Today, a news conference demanding justice was held by Sutherland’s family along with civil rights attorney Ben Crump and relatives of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Daunte Wright.
