More than a dozen states have restricted books that deal with systemic racism, and teachers are being threatened with fines.
Efforts to bring criminal charges against librarians and teachers have largely failed as law enforcement officials have found no basis for criminal investigations. Courts have generally taken the position that libraries should not remove books from circulation.
