The Black community, disproportionately affected by the virus, accounts for more than 40% of all new HIV cases. On Feb. 7, National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day was observed to commemorate and recognize the progress made in HIV prevention and treatment, but also to call attention to this huge disparity and the extra work that needs to be done within the Black community.
Dr. Grazell R. Howard, board chair for the Black AIDS Institute, joins guest host Laverne McGee on “Black News Tonight” to discuss this issue.
