as posted by the channelDr. William Harry Barnes was the board-certified otolaryngologist who revolutionized the treatment of ear, nose and throat disorders as well as related structures of the head and neck.
In the early 20th century, he developed an improved hypophyscope, a device that doctors use to see the small gland at the base of the brain known as the pituitary, which regulates vital body functions and overall health.
Dr. Barnes also perfected a technique to remove patients’ tonsils in just 10 minutes with little to no bleeding.
He became the president of the National Medical Association, an organization for Black medical professionals.
