10:34Now PlayingThe rains in Southern California are an issue of concern in Los Angeles. The cities, new Mayor, mayor Karen Bass is working to help Angelenos in need, particularly the 47,000 homeless that are spread throughout the city, even in the affluent areas.
Black people are 34% of those living in tents on the streets of the city. Bass says when the weather is nice 3 to 5 homeless people die on the streets. Meanwhile, there is no confirmation yet of the numbers of those who died during the recent rains.
Tackling homelessness was a campaign pledge for Bass. She is determined to reduce the number of the homeless by taking off the streets into permanent housing. A temporary solution to the problem also incorporates the use of hotels for many of the homeless in Los Angeles.
