Today’s reflection:
“The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us” (Jn 1:14). English doesn’t have an equivalent for “Logos” – typically translated “Word.” The Logos is self-communicating meaning. To say the Word became flesh is to say Meaning became flesh; and to take on flesh is to take on the whole mystery of creation. But this is only the first part of the movement. The enfleshment of meaning becomes the en-meaning-ment of the flesh, of all physical creation. Through ultimate meaning taking on creation, creation takes on its ultimate meaning … to be one with her Creator.
