She is likely to come under pressure over comments she made in the run-up to the budget announcement which opposition lawmakers say were misleading.
The British Business Bank has pledged an additional £30 million to the government-backed Invest in Women taskforce as ministers try to accelerate efforts to close the UK’s gender investment gap. The fresh capital will go into the taskforce’s Women Backing Women fund managed by Bootstrap4F, a female-owned and led initiative.
This brings the bank’s total commitment to the wider taskforce to £130 million, after it doubled its original pledge to £100 million in June. Only the new £30 million will go into the Women Backing Women fund.
