FULL DESCRIPTION
I’m here with Tim Bohen, and today we’re talking about biotech stocks.
Our opinions on biotech stocks totally differ — and that’s okay! It’s not an exact science. We're just sharing our own personal experiences. What works for me might not work for Bohen, and what works for us might not work for you.
Bohen loves low-priced biotech stocks that spike in the resistance. So many of these stocks spike and fall repeatedly on fluff news. He loves shorting low-priced biotech stocks with press releases (versus FDA approval). If you’re an aggressive short seller, it can be a great sector to follow.
But if you ever go long on a low-priced biotech, be very careful — they fail so often. There are plenty of other opportunities, better opportunities.
I personally hate biotech stocks. They're too choppy in terms of news and predictability. Everyone anticipates the FDA approval — sometimes they get it and the stock goes down … Sometimes you think that FDA approval is coming, then it doesn't and the stock gets crushed.
Also, FDA approval can come at ANY time. That’s part of the problem.
I’m not a fan of short selling, and I don't like biotech stocks. When I don't like something, I typically stay away from it. It’s important to figure out what you like and what you don't like. I haven't found consistency with biotech stocks — but if it works for you, great! Choose what’s best for you.
And as always, trade safe! It’s crucial to remember that these companies will try to sell you their best-case scenario. They're basically cheering on their own companies. So take what they say with a grain of salt.
What’s your experience with biotech stocks — do you like trading them? What other topics should we cover? Drop a comment below!
