Trading with the Tims

Hey, I’m here, hanging around with Tim Bohen in Chicago at TradersEXPO — that’s a huge day trading conference that takes place in multiple cities every year.

Bohen is the lead trader at StocksToTrade. Between us, we’ve been trading for well over three decades. We’ve both been in the game for a while and seen a lot of traders and tickers come and go … So listen to what we have to say.

Today, we’ll cover some of the highlights from our presentation in Chicago and what we look for in low-priced stocks.

I always talk about waiting for the right setup, but how can you actually recognize the right setup?

No pattern will ever play out exactly like it did before. That can be so hard for some traders to wrap their minds around. That’s why I always tell my students to study...

The more you see a pattern play out with variations, the better you can understand how it works. Over time, that can help you better anticipate and adapt to deviations and make smarter trading decisions.

Sounds great in theory, right? How about some real-life examples? We check out a few recent runners like CHMA, TRPX, and BYND along with the charts for each.

We also talk about when to make exceptions. For example, even if a stock isn’t a traditional low-float stock, there could be other things happening on the chart ... So it could still be a viable play.

We also talk about how we use indicators like VWAP and important chart patterns we look for when determining entry and exit points. And we go over our strategy for when to buy ... and how sometimes we buy and sell multiple times!

Remember: I’m making trades just like most new traders — with a small account. Why? So I can use my trades as learning examples for my students. I don’t care if Wall Street laughs at me when I make $450 or $500 ... Small wins can add up a lot over time!
