I’m filming this video while driving through beautiful Australia. So why do I look so upset?

I’m here working with my charity Karmagawa. That part’s great — we’re visiting a ton of animal sanctuaries...

But the time difference can make trading HARD. The U.S. markets open at 1:30 a.m. here.

This morning, I woke up with an hour left in the U.S. markets. So I thought I’d look for some potential trades.

But it had been a tough few days. I’d lost trading time due to travel. And a stock I was watching tripled in price … and I missed out on all the action.

Then I saw what looked like a great play. One of my top students was talking about it, and this made me take notice.

It looked choppy — but also promising. It was in a hot sector, it had some decent news … and there was a price dip.

I wanted this trade.

I say never force trades, that you should approach the market like a retired trader … But every now and again, I mess up.

I’ll tell you why things didn’t go according to plan, how I was honest with myself about breaking my rules, and how it all played out.

No, this trade wasn’t the end of the world. But I’m angry at myself. I let greed and my addiction to trading get one over on me.

I’m sharing this lesson to show you that it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been trading … you can still make mistakes. I’ve been trading for 20+ years and I still slip up with my own rules.

You can’t lose your discipline. And if you do, you need to be able to reign it in. You gotta get back on track ASAP.
