as posted by the channelDid you (or do you) enjoy watching The Jeffersons and Sanford and Son? Did you think that those shows and character ideas came from Norman Lear? I did! I used to think so because I would read the credits on the show. It turns out that Norman Lear didn't have too many original ideas at all. I always thought that he was this innovative producer who was just ahead of his time. But most of his hit shows were already hit shows in England and he remade them for USA audiences, or he just plain stole ideas from people who had more creativity than he did, and less power. One of those people is writer, Eric Monte who co-created Good Times with Mike Evans. Eric Monte also created the characters George Jefferson and Louise Jefferson for All In The Family. He also gave Norman Lear the idea to cast Redd Foxx as the lead in Sanford and Son. He ended up having to take Norman Lear to court to try to set things right and his life has been a roller coaster ever since.
