Madeleine Astor was the widow of the wealthiest man on the Titanic who went down with the ship on her maiden voyage. John Jacob Astor. She was merely a teenager - 18 and just 1 year older than his son, when she started dating the 40 something John Jacob - which caused his wife of almost 20 years to divorce him. I covered all of that scandal in my previous video. Also in that video, I asked you all if you wanted me to tell you the story about Madeleine’s third marriage - which was a cause of great embarrassment to her. So many of you told me that you wanted the story.
Once Olivier Mendez discovered the Joseph LaRoche had been a passenger on the Titanic, the story was spread and then it became the story of a black family that had been on board the Titanic. That just was not the case. Regardless, Joseph LaRoche - the French & Haitian man of the family went down with the ship. His body was never recovered. So he was never buried, but half of his ancestry was.
When I said that his wife LITERALLY buried his blackness, that’s what I meant. LITERALLY. As in, Mrs. LaRoche took every photo of Joseph along with every ID card or paper that referred to him as black, Haitian, or African, and she put them in a chest and buried them in her backyard. But, maybe she had a good reason. Decide for yourself.
Madeleine ended her romance in first class with her first husband, millionaire, John Jacob Astor. And she started her romance on another ocean liner - inviting a guy from 2nd class to dine with her. He would become her third husband, Italian boxer, Enzo Fiermonte. She was expecting romance, but was he her karma, plus some extra?
