In 2016, Alison Parker was on camera reporting for WDBJ 7 in Virginia when she and her cameraman, Adam Ward, were fatally shot. Parker’s boyfriend, Chris Hurst, was an anchor at the station. After the shooting, Hurst decided he wanted to do something impactful, so he launched a successful bid for delegate in Virginia’s 12th House of Delegates district. Chris Hurst joins TODAY to talk about his win, as well as “Virginia 12th,” a documentary that follows his run for office.
