A significant portion of the government shut down at midnight, but it may be brief after the Senate passed a bipartisan deal to consider Department of Homeland Security funding separately from a larger package as Congress negotiates new potential reforms to ICE. The deal now heads to the House which is expected to vote as soon as Monday. NBC’s Melanie Zanona reports for Saturday TODAY.
