as posted by the channelAround 1:04 AM on March 28, 2023, Officer Williams with the Boca Raton Police Department responded to a medical call involving an intoxicated patron outside O’Brian’s Irish Pub. As he arrived on scene, he located both the patron as well as the caller. The patron was later identified as 27-year-old Raissa DeSouza. Shortly afterwards, first responders with BRFD came to evaluate her. Raissa repeatedly declined to be transported to the hospital, and also refused the Officers’ offer to arrange a taxi or Uber ride home.
After declining all forms of assistance, Raissa began running towards her Mercedes and jumped into the rear seat of her Mercedes. At this point, it became clear that Raissa would not accept any assistance and she happened to be in physical possession of a motor vehicle while heavily intoxicated. Based on her physical possession, Officer Williams placed Raissa under arrest for driving under the influence at 1:37 AM.
Based on her state of impairment, they determined that attempting field sobriety exercises was not feasible. After Raissa was placed under arrest, her vehicle was towed by Westway Towing. Officer Soria remained on scene to complete the tow log. Raissa was subsequently transported to the Palm Beach County Jail for further processing. At the jail, Officer Walker read her the Implied Consent warnings twice at 2:14 AM, but she refused to submit breath samples.
