Former Model Goes Absolutely Nuts During DWI Arrest

Around 7:57 PM on November 4, 2023, Patrolman Nicholas Dowling with the Deal Police Department was dispatched to Ocean Place in Loch Arbour (patrolled by Deal Police) for a noise complaint involving loud music coming from a maroon Toyota Rav4. He arrived on scene and noticed that all the windows were down, a woman in the driver seat was fully reclined, and she appeared unconscious.

Patrolman Dowling, with the assistance of Patrolman Jon Losquardo, made contact with the woman, who was later identified as 25-year-old Devyn Piotrowski. He awakened Devyn and he noticed that her eyes were bloodshot and watery. He also detected the odor of alcohol and noticed that there were empty airplane bottles of New Amsterdam vodka. He asked Devyn where she was coming from, and she stated that she was coming from Margate. She also reluctantly provided her identification while repeatedly insisting that she did nothing wrong.

Based on his suspicion of impairment, Devyn was asked to exit the vehicle and perform field sobriety exercises. Despite repeated attempts to have her exit the vehicle, Devyn was uncooperative. Eventually, Patrolmen Dowling and Losquardo forcibly removed Devyn from the vehicle, and Patrolman Dowling placed the handcuffs on her as she was on the ground. They escorted her to the patrol car, and as she was being placed inside, she spit her gum and attempted to spit it towards the officers.

Based on her uncooperative nature, field sobriety exercises were not administered. Her vehicle was impounded by Bennett’s Towing for a mandatory 12-hour hold under John’s Law. Devyn was transported to the Deal Police Department for further processing. At the Deal Police Department, Devyn searched in more detail by Patrolman Velasquez. Patrolman Losquardo read her the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators, and she ultimately agreed to submit breath samples after initially giving an ambiguous answer.

Her Alcotest results indicated a BAC of 0.23%, which was nearly triple the legal limit of 0.08%. Devyn was also photographed and fingerprinted because she was facing criminal charges in addition to motor vehicle summonses. After submitting breath samples, Devyn was released to a sober adult after he signed the Potential Liability Warning on her behalf.

Devyn was issued the following criminal summonses: Obstruction of justice, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest

Devyn was also issued the following motor vehicle summonses: Operating under the influence, reckless driving, careless driving, and open container of alcohol
