Former Model (and Future DWI Offender) Gets Arrested for Obstruction

Around 9:31 PM on October 21, 2023, officers with the Asbury Park Police Department were dispatched to a report of a fight on Borden Avenue. When the officer arrived on scene, he observed a 25-year-old, identified as Devyn Piotrowski, playing loud music inside a rented 2021 Nissan Rogue and acting confrontational. He also made contact with a resident of a nearby house, who told him that she was behaving erratically.

Shortly afterwards, Officer Ryan Champouillon also arrived on scene and began interviewing the resident of the house. The resident told him that she had never met Devyn before, and she was unsure why she was bothering her. Officer Champouillon then walked towards Devyn, and he noticed that she kept walking away from the officers and refusing to comply with their instructions. Around this time, Officer Thomas also found an open container of alcohol in the vehicle that Devyn was driving. Based on her lack of cooperation, Devyn was placed under arrest for obstruction.

As Officer Champouillon escorted Devyn to the patrol car, she continued to resist. He transported her to the station and she continued to be uncooperative for a few minutes inside the sally port before walking into the station. Once they were inside the station, Devyn had to remove her jewelry and a female officer from another department came to search her. After they were finished processing her, she was released pending her court appearance. Devyn was issued the following summonses: Open container (39:4-51B) and Obstructing the Administration of Law (2C:29-1A).

Court records indicate that Devyn had previously been arrested in Atlantic City, New Jersey on October 23, 2021. She would later go on to get arrested for DWI in Loch Arbour, New Jersey on November 4, 2023.

The summary of events was based on records that are “open to public view through open access to public records” as defined in the Salzano case. In Ramos v. Flowers, 429 N.J. Super. 13, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court has also affirmed the right to film law enforcement interactions.
