Around 1:41 AM on February 29, 2024, Deputy Ryan Schotsch with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office pulled over 29-year-old Darya in front of the CEFCO gas station on Highway 90 in Milton, Florida. After he made contact with the driver, she seemed incoherent and told him that she was looking to get a tire changed. While she was able to provide the Deputy with a passport, she was unable to provide a valid license because it was suspended. The vehicle was not registered in her name. A check of her records indicated that she had multiple prior suspensions as well as a prior DUI from January 2, 2023 (also posted on this channel).
Deputy Schotsch ordered Darya to exit the vehicle, but she began to resist. Other Deputies arrived to assist with this traffic stop, and Darya continued lying to them. Deputy Hankins conducted a search of her person after she was placed under arrest. Deputy Schotsch asked Darya if she wished to bring her phone as well as her purse before they took her to the jail, and she agreed. Deputy Hankins searched her purse and located what seemed like a prohibited substance. Deputy Welch retrieved a test kit so that the substance could be tested. Since the swab turned blue, they were able to confirm that she was in possession of crystal meth.
The prohibited substance was logged as evidence and Deputy Welch transported Darya to the Santa Rosa County Jail. After she was booked into jail around 2:30 AM, she was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (893.13.6a), Driving while License Suspended (322.34.2a), and Violation of Probation (948.06).
